USN official outlines new training concept

12 December 2017

The US Navy (USN) has an urgent requirement to improve the way it trains and increase the pace of technology development and adoption, Vice Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Bill Moran noted during a briefing at the Interservice/Industry Training and Education Conference (I/ITSEC).

To meet this demand, the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) is developing a new concept called Ready Relevant Learning (RRL) which aims to deliver the right learning to each sailor at the right time.

“More often than not, we give them way too much training at the front-end, and this is not committed to memory or well understood,” Adm Moran noted.
