The French Army received its first Missile Moyenne Portée (MMP) lightweight medium-range multi-purpose/anti-tank missile systems on 15-23 November, the Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA), the French procurement agency, announced on 30 November. Fifty missiles and 20 launchers were delivered for training.
The DGA told Jane’s on 30 November that it had placed firm orders for 1,550 of the fire-and-forget and man-in-the-loop missiles and 225 firing units.
The December 2013 development and production contract is for 2,850 missiles and 400 launchers, in line with the Loi de Programmation Militaire 2014-19 military funding programme. The DGA said 1,750 missiles and 400 launchers will be received by 2025 in the first phase of the programme, including missiles for Jaguar 6x6 combat vehicles.
