14 November 2017

The Indo-Russian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace is to begin deliveries of the air-launched version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile to the Indian Air Force (IAF) in January 2018, Russian state-owned TASS news agency reported on 13 November.

Deliveries of the BrahMos-A will begin immediately after two certified launches against a naval and a ground target are carried out, Alexander Maxichev, co-director of BrahMos Aerospace was quoted by the media outlet as saying at the Dubai Airshow.

As part of the upcoming trials, which are expected to take place before the end of the year, a BrahMos-A missile fitted with a 300 kg warhead will be fired from a Sukhoi Su-30MKI multirole fighter to engage a target at a range of 290 km.
