Russia is looking to secure additional helicopter sales to Thailand following the recent signing of a bilateral military-technology collaboration agreement, Jane’s understands.
Officials from Russian export agency Rosoboronexport told Jane’s on 8 November at the Defence & Security 2017 show in Bangkok that the accord, which was signed in September, will lead to greater levels of government-to-government industrial co-operation and defence trade.
The officials did not identify specific platforms and programmes but made the comments one day after Mikhail Petukhov, the deputy director of Russia’s Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation, told Russian state media that Moscow has recently agreed to supply the Royal Thai Army (RTA) with two additional Mil Mi-17V-5 helicopters.
