Australian Army completes restructuring under Plan Beersheba

The Australian Army’s (AA’s) 7th Brigade at Brisbane received the final tranche of 65 armoured personnel carriers (APCs) consisting of ASLAVs and M113AS4s, and three new M1A1 Abrams main battle tanks (MBTs), completing the restructuring process of a third and final brigade under Plan Beersheba.

The AA now has three commonly structured brigades in Darwin/Adelaide (1st Brigade), Townsville (3rd Brigade), and Brisbane (7th Brigade) “to enhance our capability to sustain our forces deployed on operations”, Chief of Army Lieutenant General Angus Campbell was quoted by the AA as saying in a 28 October statement.

“We have changed the way [the] army generates forces through the integration of regular and reserve personnel into one total workforce of approximately 45,000 people.
