06 November 2017

Modern hardware will account for more than 60% of equipment in service with Russia`s armed forces, Deputy Defence Minister Yuri Borisov has said in an interview.

He told the Voyenno-Promishlennyi Kurier ( Military Industry Courier ) newspaper on 31 October that a level below 50% is considered an indicator of problems in the armed forces. Russia’s military had therefore recovered from the crisis, according to Borisov. The military has received hundreds of aerial vehicles, combat aircraft, army aviation helicopters, 122 strategic missile systems, more than 100 submarine-launched ballistic missiles, three ballistic missile submarines, one multipurpose and over 10 diesel electric submarines, and 10 brigade sets of Iskander-M systems.
