Sweden orders more BONUS anti-armour munition

03 November 2017

The FMV, the Swedish Defence and Materiel Administration, has placed an order with BAE Systems for 254 additional rounds of the Bofors 155mm BONUS anti-armour precision-guided munition for the Swedish Army, the company announced on 2 November.

Sweden first ordered BONUS in June 2000 and the round has been in service with the Swedish Army since 2003. It is fired by Swedish Archer self-propelled howitzers. It can be fired up to 35 km, deploying two sensor-fused munitions that each search for and neutralise armoured targets within a footprint of up to 32,000 m 2 .

BAE Systems said the latest version of BONUS, developed and produced in co-operation with Nexter, would improve the capabilities of the Swedish Army.
