Argentine Army buying more anti-tank weapons

30 October 2017

The Argentine Military Attaché in Washington, DC, has announced a direct acquisition contract for 77 Saab Bofors Dynamics Carl Gustaf anti-tank recoilless rifles with 30 sub-calibre adapters.

To complement the sub-calibre adapters Argentina is also buying 5,800 rounds of 7.62 mm tracer ammunition, and 5,800 percussion primers.

Moreover, using the same acquisition mechanism, Argentina issued two separate contracts adding 34 AT4CS HP HEAT anti-tank weapons and another for 44 Steyr M1 .50 anti-materiel rifles.

This series of direct purchases also included a Thales Ground Observer 80, 16 lightweight ground surveillance radars (likely the Thales’ Observer 12), night-vision goggle range finder systems, and ruggedised computers.
