Raytheon will combine the experience gained from its Precision Extended Range Munition (PERM) with seeker technology from artillery round development in its PERM Block II.
Speaking at the Defence IQ Future Mortar Systems conference in London, Paul Daniels, a senior manager at Raytheon Missile Systems, said the new round will be part of the company’s offering for the US Army’s High Explosive Guided Mortar (HEGM) programme.
HEGM has an objective circular error probable of <1 m at up to 16 km range, and a semi-active laser seeker (SAL) to support the engagement of moving targets. HEGM will be used with standard US Army and US Marine Corps (USMC) 120 mm mortar systems.
