Russian Helicopters to launch production in Kazakhstan

Russian Helicopters is set to launch production of the Mil Mi-8AMT/Mi-171 ‘Hip-H’ helicopters in Kazakhstan, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

The MOU, agreed by Russian Helicopters, Kazakhstan Engineering, and Kazakh firm 405 Aircraft Repair Plant, will see 45 kit versions of the helicopters delivered to Kazakhstan for assembly. A contract for the first three kits is expected by the end of the year, with an agreement for a phased delivery of the remaining kits expected to be signed in early 2018.

Should the contracts be concluded, the assembly of the helicopters is expected to take place between 2017 and 2025.
