The Direction Générale pour l’Armement (DGA) Lab, the French procurement agency's innovation laboratory, is supporting the Commandement des Opérations Spéciales (COS), France's special operations command, acquire mini unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for fighting terrorists in urban areas. The "drone indoor" programme will reach its final stage at the beginning of November, with the final demonstration and examination of the six bids received, which will last three months.
Eva Crück of the DGA strategy directorate's industrial affairs and economic intelligence department said phase two of the programme demonstrating the technological concept and the validity of the support concept, ie its technological viability, began in mid-July and will last two and a half months.
