AUSA 2017: Minigun developer Dillon Aero extends marinisation to all M134D weapons

11 October 2017

Key Points

  • Dillon Aero is standardising marinisation on all of its M134D miniguns
  • This will improve the lifespan of the guns, reducing customer costs for spare parts

Arizona-based minigun developer Dillon Aero is incurring cost to extend marinisation coatings to all of its M134D variants, according to a company official.

Dillon Aero international business development director Randy Nance told Jane’s on 10 October that the company is marinising all of its guns, except for the barrels, to help improve corrosion resistance. Dillon has one mini-gun, the M134D, that Nance said comes in different variants: a lighter titanium hybrid, the M134D-H, which features four internal titanium components; the standard M134D steel variant; and a marinised M134D-M variant.
