Leonardo opens facility in Western Australia

04 October 2017

Leonardo has opened a new industrial facility in Western Australia through its in-country subsidiary Selex ES Australia Pty Ltd, it was announced on 3 October.

The group said the new facility – located in Rockingham, South of Perth – will be focused on providing engineering, integration, installation, and sustainment services.

It added that the site’s proximity to major naval shipyards in Western Australia will allow Leonardo to be “highly responsive” on naval programmes. The new site will also allow Leonardo to enter partnerships with local companies more easily, it said.

The new facility will also play a role in Selex ES’s contract, awarded in December 2013, to upgrade the communications systems onboard the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN's) Anzac-class frigates.
