The Bundeswehr has sent invitations to tender for the assault rifle, which will replace the G36.
Germany’s Federal Office for Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology, and In-Service Support (Bundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr: BAAINBw) announced on 15 September that it had sent invitations to tender together with performance requirements to selected companies on 6 September.
After reception and evaluation of the proposals, the competing assault rifles with accessories will be tested and compared, the BAAINBw said.
The tender procedure will be completed by November 2018, according to the answer to a parliamentary question by member of the Bundestag Jan van Acken of the leftist Die Linke party on 17 February 2017.
