New microwave power [DSEI17D4]

15 September 2017

Specialist UK microwave and RF manufacturer TMD Technologies (Stand S3-255) is showcasing two new travelling wave tube (TWT) based microwave power modules (MPMs) this week.

The PTX8110 compact high-power module for radar and EW (pictured) operates from 6-18GHz at 200W, and is easily integrated into those high-performance EW and radar systems requiring higher power.

Comprising a high-power helix TWT and switched mode power supply, the PTX8110 forms a single ‘drop-in’ microwave amplifier unit without the need for potentially unreliable high-voltage TWT interconnections.

The company’s new PTX8815 Ka-band MPM is designed for Ka-band radar applications such as naval fire control. This top-class TWT amplifier is suited to high-fidelity radar requirements for low close-to- carrier phase noise and spurious performance.

TMD also has on display its TPS6900 solid-state MPM optimised for EW/ECM systems, and the TWT-based PTXM series of ultra-compact MPMs designed for airborne radar, EW and communications that is ideally suited for UAVs.
