DSEI 2017: Roketsan targets Eastern Europe

Turkey’s Roketsan is moving to target opportunities in Eastern Europe, and is looking at building on its position as a key supplier to Raytheon’s Patriot ground-based air defence (GBAD) system, company representatives have told Jane’s .

Poland has been a potential market for the company to enter into through the Patriot supply chain, following on from the country’s selection of the Patriot for its Wisla GBAD requirement. Roketsan currently provides control actuators for the Patriot GEM-T system and is a preferred supplier for Raytheon, allowing for access to the wider user community of Patriot systems.

Although the company was unsuccessful in its bid for Poland’s Homar long-range rocket artillery programme, Roketsan is still looking at other opportunities in the country, such as the potential to supply air-launched weapons for the country’s upcoming ‘Kruk’ attack helicopter procurement and other armed rotary-wing platforms.
