Breaking the mould [ES2016D1]

Lockheed Martin (Hall 6, Stand K201) prides itself in always exploring innovative technologies to provide customers with value, performance and affordability.

Having listened to the user community and recognised a need to combine proven sensor technology with a truly modular, 15in turret, the company has produced Infirno, leveraging lessons learnt from designing and manufacturing more than 10,500 electro-optical infrared sensors, such as the Apache M-TADS/PNVS, Sniper advanced targeting pod and AH-1Z target sight system.

Infirno is a high-definition, precision targeting and intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR) sensor system that readily adapts for future missions. Applicable across ground, airborne and maritime platforms, Infirno features HD colour and HD infrared sensors, laser designator/rangefinder, advanced image processing and multi-target track capabilities.

It is said to break the mould of the mid-size turret market by packing high-performance targeting and ISR capabilities into a modular 15in turret.

The system combines bestin- class sensor technology, advanced image processing and unique targeting algorithms, and provides operators with the ability to perform maintenance in the field without removing the turret from the host platform.

This is made possible through nine line replaceable units (LRUs), which can be removed individually in the field for maintenance, repair or upgrade.
