The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) has launched a market survey across the US industry to help inform its acquisition strategy for the US Navy's (USN's) LCU 1700 programme, as plans to recapitalise the navy's Landing Craft Utility (LCU) capability continue to develop.

The LCU 1700 programme - previously known as the Surface Connector (X) Replacement (SC(X)R) - envisages the one-for-one replacement of the 32 LCU 1610 landing craft in service.
