06 November 2015

Key Points

  • JTIC recorded 1,516 worldwide attacks by non-state armed groups in September 2015, a 7.5% decrease in the average daily total compared with August.
  • In Yemen, the decreasing militant operational tempo across the month was principally indicative of the extent to which Ansar Allah had been forced onto the defensive.
  • In Colombia, an overall decrease in attacks and fatalities was overwhelmingly driven by a substantial reduction in the operational tempo of the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia.

In September 2015, IHS Jane's Terrorism and Insurgency Centre (JTIC) recorded a total of 1,516 attacks by non-state armed groups (NSAGs) worldwide from open sources, representing a slight 7.5% decrease in the average daily number of attacks, from 54.6 in August to 50.5 in September.
