IHS Jane's Security Alerts provide a snapshot of political and security news likely to break in the week ahead.

Ukraine celebrates its Independence Day on 24 August. Pro-Russian separatists are likely to intensify their attacks in Donetsk and Luhansk and improvised explosive device (IED) attacks on state and security assets are increasingly likely, particularly in southern and eastern cities. In Cairo, civil society groups are likely to protest against Egyptian president Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi's anti-terrorism law and face being forcibly dispersed by security forces.


WATCH FOR: Rural producers' protest across Argentina with roadblocks during 24-28 August

Risk analysis: On 13 August, the rural producers' organisations Sociedad Rural Argentina (SRA), Confederaciones Rurales Argentinas (CRA), and Confederación Intercooperativa Agropecuaria Limitada (Coninagro), grouped under the umbrella organisation Mesa de Enlace Agropecuaria, announced a national protest from 24 to 28 August to demand state aid for agricultural producers.
