The officer in charge of acquiring the US Navy's (USN's) new nuclear-powered aircraft carriers told reporters on 15 June that the Ford-class programme is flagged to receive USD25 million in research and development (R&D) funds beginning in fiscal year 2017 (FY 2017) for innovations to help cut shipbuilding costs.
