Eurosatory 2014

In the palm of your hand (ES14E4)

Norway’s Prox Dynamics AS (Hall 6, Stand F308) has chosen Eurosatory to launch its PD-100 Black Hornet Block II Personal Reconnaissance System (PRS), the world’s smallest operational unmanned air system (UAS).

Hailed as a “game-changer” and “life-saver” by NATO forces, the PD-100 has proved its capability and value on operations around the world, providing users with “immediate situational awareness from the palm of their hand”.

The PD-100 Block II looks almost identical to the original PRS, but incorporates significant improvements as a result of customer feedback and the company’s own research and development, with tangible differences being in the Block II’s system functionality and the improved nano UAV’s (NUAV’s) sensor and flight capability.

The complete system weighs only 1.3kg and comprises two NUAVs, a base station, a controller and a screen. With an endurance of close to 30 minutes, the UAVs are able to provide the operator with realtime full motion video and HD snapshots, and missions can be conducted beyond line of sight.

The autopilot takes care of the complex flying control, which makes for a very stable UAV and easy to operate system, significantly reducing operator workload. The NUAV’s discreet nature means it can manoeuvre close to its target and remain undetected.
