L-3 Communications buys big data firm Data Tactics

06 March 2014

L-3 Communications has acquired Data Tactics Corporation, a US supplier of big data analytics and cloud computing services to the US Department of Defense.

The transaction - terms of which were not disclosed - was announced on 5 March. Data Tactics will be renamed L-3 Data Tactics, following a long-established practice of integration operated by L-3.

Headquartered in Virginia, Data Tactics employs 200 people and was established in 2005.

The acquisition follows L-3's purchase of Mustang Technology Group in December 2013. Mustang (now L-3 Mustang Technology) makes radar-based sensors and seekers used in precision-guided munitions and unmanned systems.
