Israel releases first Ofek 16 satellite imagery

The Ofek 16 was launched on 6 July and the IMOD said this is the first time it has released recent imagery from one of its satellites.
The greyscale images showed the Roman Theatre and Temple of Bel in the ruined city of Palmyra in central Syria.
“The camera has the best performance and weight characteristics available on the market”, the IMOD said, meaning the satellites that are capable of higher resolutions are disproportionately heavier.
It added that the satellite would be transferred to Unit 9900 for operational use in the near future after the in-orbit testing process is completed.
