US-based Heico Corporation has acquired defence electronics supplier Paciwave of Sunnyvale, California, for an undisclosed amount of cash at closing, Heico announced on 4 October.

Paciwave will become part of Heico's dB Control subsidiary and will move to dB Control's nearby facility in Fremont, California, Heico said. Most of Paciwave's employees are expected to stay with the company.

Founded in 1995 by Parimal Kadakia, Paciwave makes microwave and radio-frequency equipment used in air, land, sea, and space-based military applications. Paciwave and dB Control have worked together for years, Heico said.

The announcement came less than a week after Heico disclosed it had acquired a majority stake in New Hampshire-based RH Laboratories, which makes parts for electronic warfare, radar, and missile systems.

US-based Voyager Space announced on 4 October that it has acquired engineering business Valley Tech Systems (VTS), which works on ISR and propulsion systems for the US Department of Defense.

Voyager, which is mainly a space exploration company, said that VTS's technology will expand its defence portfolio while helping improve its existing civil and commercial capabilities. VTS president Mike O'Brien said that joining Voyager will give his firm additional access to capital and other resources.

Voyager, which is owned by several institutions and senior management, acquired VTS from its management. Financial terms were not disclosed. VTS was founded in 2007 and is based in Folsom, California.

VTS is Voyager's first defence acquisition. Additional defence acquisitions are planned, Voyager CEO and chairman Dylan Taylor said.
