US private equity firm Godspeed Capital Management has acquired Exceptional Software Strategies (ESS), which provides cyber-security and other information technology services to the US government, including defence and intelligence agencies, Godspeed announced on 13 January.

ESS will join a new holding company that Godspeed recently formed to provide a “cyber and technology solutions platform” to the US Department of Defense and US Intelligence Community.

“We are excited to be joining Godspeed as part of a broader, better resourced, and scalable platform strategy and look forward to collaborating with like-minded providers,” ESS founder and president Paul Stasko said.

ESS is the second business Godspeed has acquired for the holding company. Godspeed plans to announce a third acquisition “in the near future”, a spokesman for the firm said.

Godspeed purchased ESS from Stasko for an undisclosed sum. ESS is based in Maryland and employs about 80 people.

The ESS acquisition follows Godspeed's disclosure in December 2021 that it had purchased another Maryland-based IT services business, Varen Technologies, for its new holding company.
