Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has launched ‘Green Lotus' – a multisensor system for tactical air and ground situational awareness – at the Eurosatory 2022 defence exhibition in Paris.

According to the company, Green Lotus is a multimission multisensor system designed for tactical low-tier air and ground surveillance, force protection, ground-based air defence (GBAD), counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS), and counter-rocket, artillery, and mortar (C-RAM).

Asher Abish, regional director for marketing and sales for Elta Systems, told Janes that the system is developed for mobile and stationary forces, and has an array of IAI-ELTA active and passive sensors capable of automatically detecting, tracking, classifying, and identifying aerial targets, UASs, and very low radar cross-section targets.

A modular ‘plug-and-play system', it can be tailored to specific customer requirements, Abish said.

Some of the core sensors that can be integrated on the platform include Othello, a launch-detection system; Storm Guard, an X-band radar; Green Rock, an S-band tactical C-RAM and air-defence radar; and a Multi-mission Optronic Stabilised Payload (MOSP) for long-range reconnaissance and targeting, Abish said.

The system is capable of detecting over 100 threats simultaneously and – when using the Green Rock S-band micro-Doppler radar – can classify UASs, Abish added. It can also track the trajectories of rockets, artillery, and mortars, and calculate the point from which they were launched, while also predicting the location of the intended impact.

Abish confirmed that the system had undergone standard trials in challenging weather conditions, however, he was unable to disclose any information regarding customers.
