Elbit Systems unveiled a new multimission tactical radar – DAiR – at the Eurosatory 2022 defence exhibition in Paris.

The system operates in the X-band and implements solid-state Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technology, capable of detecting land-based, airborne, and maritime threats including people, vehicles, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), and artillery, the company said.

Speaking to Janes, Nimrod Ben Meir, vice-president of business development and marketing for Elbit Systems, said that the system can simultaneously detect and track up to 10,000 targets.

It is suitable for any shore-based missions, although it is primarily targeted for border control missions, Meir said.

The system has a multibeam radar panel with electronic beam steering up to 80° in elevation. It comes with a range of adaptors that enable installation on tripods, walls, masts, and vehicles and is available in several configurations, high power and standard power, the company said.

The system can be configured to detect ground targets (DAiR-G) or can be utilised as a full multimission radar (DAiR-M) to detect threats in multiple domains, the company said.

DAiR can detect small UAS from up to 12 km and humans from up to 15 km, it is compatible with the All-purpose Structured EUROCONTROL Surveillance Information Exchange (ASTERIX) protocols, the company said.
