Euronaval 2022: Hensoldt prepares Quadome multimission 3D radar for production

Hensoldt is readying its new Quadome lightweight, affordable, multimission 3D radar for production, with the objective of being able to deliver the first units in 2024 once orders are received, Hensoldt told Janes at the Euronaval 2022 maritime exhibition in Paris.

First unveiled in September 2021, the new radar has an above-deck weight of less than 850 kg and is intended for offshore patrol vessels and corvettes.

The Quadome radar operates in the C-band (NATO G-band), features a solid-state active electronically scanned array, has a maximum range of 200 km, and can track more than 1,000 targets. A secondary identification, friend-or-foe (IFF) antenna is integrated and can be specific as NATO Mode 5 or Mode 4, depending on the operator.

The radar features a surveillance mode for air and surface surveillance with a four second (15 rpm) refresh rate, and a self-defence mode with a two second (30 rpm) refresh rate. In the latter, the radar can complement the fire-control loop, particularly for naval gunfire support and surface-to-air missile engagements. Helicopter control can be performed in parallel in both modes.
