Israel's Plasan debuted a pre-production version of its Wilder lightweight armoured vehicle at DSEI 2023 in London and announced that an undisclosed NATO country has acquired the platform.

Wilder was unveiled by Plasan at Eurosatory 2022 in Paris and the latest version incorporates design changes that have been driven by the results of testing, Nir Kahn, Plasan's director of design told Janes .

“The most obvious visible difference is the new front design, necessitated by the relocation of the radiator from the back to the front,” Kahn said. “[This] was moved following mid-summer desert testing to improve the cooling efficiency in extreme conditions.”

Internal changes centre on ergonomics, Kahn said. “The dashboard in the prototype was only ever really a prototype driver's environment to allow us to test the vehicle. We have now completed the interior design as intended, and made improvements following feedback from our own drivers as well as others … the dashboard is all new and the driving position [has been] revised to improve head and leg room.”

The new dashboard features what Plasan describes as a ‘full wraparound driver environment'.

The company has previously stated that it developed Wilder following the identification of a gap in the market for a platform that combines the protection levels required on the modern battlefield with a high level of mobility and utility.
