The Brazilian Navy Marine Corps (Corpo de Fuzileiros Navais) is implementing an ambitious effort to replace some of its older equipment, acquire new capabilities, improve infrastructure, and re-organise its Air Combat Battalion and CBRN Defence Battalion, while also contributing to the local defence industrial base.

The Marine Corps Combat Power Strategic Program 2020–2040, or PROADSUMUS, which is part of the navy's strategic programme Construction of the Naval Power Core, replaces its previous PROBANF, PRORIB, and PROGPTFN modernisation efforts, the General-Command of the Marines Corps (CGCFN) told Janes .

PROADSUMUS is intended to improve command and control, fire power, and mobility for the Fleet Marine Force, Riverine Operations Battalions, Marines Regional Units, and the navy's CBRN defence organisations.

According to the CGCFN, it would include procuring the General Dynamic European Land Systems M3 bridging system; three BAE Systems AAV7A1 RAM/RS assault vehicles from the US Marine Corps (USMC); a two-year logistics support package for the existing AAV7A1 vehicles; underwater escape trainer for AAV7A1; Saab Dynamics Carl-Gustaf M3 or M4 84 mm multi-role weapon with various ammunition; an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) system to replace the RBS 56 BILL; new assault rifles and 5.56×45 mm, 7.62×51 mm, and .50 weapons; 40×46 mm automatic grenade launchers; a manportable short-range air defence (SHORAD) system to replace MISTRAL 1s; tanks to replace the Sk105A2S Kürassier; 155 mm artillery to replace the M114A1s; 60 mm and 81 mm mortars with 6,000 m and 3,800 m range, respectively; 4×4 unarmoured lightweight tactical vehicles with curb weight of up to 3,800 kg to replace Defender series 4×4 vehicles; new soldier gear; CBRN defence equipment; and a mine-breaching system.
