BAE reports progress on absorbing ex-Raytheon businesses

The integration of two former Raytheon Technologies businesses into BAE Systems’ Electronic Systems sector is “progressing well”, according to the UK-based defence contractor.

The integration process is “benefiting from positive levels of engagement by the teams”, BAE wrote in an 11 November update on its activities. “The businesses are performing as expected and [are] well-positioned for growth.”

BAE acquired Raytheon’s Airborne Tactical Radios (ATR) business in May and its military Global Positioning System (GPS) business in July for a total of EUR1.9 billion (USD2.2 billion). Raytheon sold the US-based businesses to address anti-trust concerns about its recent merger with United Technologies Corporation (UTC).

BAE has described the former Raytheon businesses as “high-performing” entities that will complement and expand its capabilities. BAE intends to spend more than USD100 million to build a new facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to consolidate multiple locations in the GPS business, which is now called Navigation & Sensor Systems.
