Armenian and Azerbaijan clash again in Nagorno-Karabakh

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) on 18 November accused Armenia of violating a 16 November truce following clashes between the two South Caucasus countries in Nagorno-Karabakh earlier the same day. The ministry said on its website that the Armenian Armed Forces had twice fired at Azerbaijani Army positions in the Tovuz region on 17–18 November, claiming to have silenced the attacks with return fire.

An Armenian MoD tweet on 18 November accused the Azerbaijanis of opening fire but reported the situation had stabilised after the Armenians retaliated. The situation continued to be stable on 19 November, according to another Armenian MoD tweet.

The truce mediated by Russia came into effect at 1830 h local on 16 November, the Armenian MoD tweeted later the same day. The Russian MoD reported on its website on 16 November that Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu phoned his Armenian and Azerbaijani counterparts, Suren Papikyan and Zakir Hasanov, respectively. The Kremlin said on its website that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan phoned President Vladimir Putin, according to the Moscow Times to call for Russian military support under the Collective Security Treaty Organisation. Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar also phoned Hasanov the same day, expressing Ankara's continued support for Baku, the Azerbaijani MoD reported on its website on 16 November.
