During that time he also created and authored the DMS World Armored Vehicle Forecast and World Ordnance Forecast, which became the industry standard references in their fields.

In 1990 Lee became an independent consultant, and in 1995 he founded the Carlton Group Inc, which publishes the monthly Military Vehicles and Ordnance Report and provides technology and marketing consultancy to industry and government. He also gives several workshops and seminars a year on armored vehicles and ordnance in the US, Europe and Asia under the auspices of various conference organizers.
