Peter R Bond
Peter Bond is a lifelong space and astronomy enthusiast. He has written 12 books, including the award-winning "DK Guide to Space", and has contributed to or acted as consultant/editor for many others. His latest books include: Exploring the Solar System, published in 2012 by Wiley-Blackwell, Distant Worlds: Milestones in Planetary Exploration, published by Springer-Copernicus-Praxis, and Jane’s Space Recognition Guide (HarperCollins, in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution and the former Jane’s Information Group).

Peter has also written hundreds of articles on space and astronomy for British and American newspapers and magazines, as well as material for the Sunday Times Window On The Universe CD-ROM, the Nature-IOP Encyclopedia of Astronomy and Astrophysics, the Encarta Reference Library and the Philip’s Encyclopedia of Astronomy and Astrophysics. He was the Space Science Advisor/Press Officer for the Royal Astronomical Society 1995-2007, frequently appearing on TV and radio to comment on the latest space discoveries and events. Peter has also been a consultant/writer for the European Space Agency (ESA) for many years, writing and editing brochures and reports, as well as writing articles for the ESA Bulletin and several of the Agency's web sites. 

He received a certificate for an "outstanding contribution" from ESA in 2005, and a Group Achievement Award from NASA in 2004. He is a Fellow of both the Royal Astronomical Society and the British Interplanetary Society. Peter was appointed Consultant Editor for IHS Jane's Space Systems & Industry on 1 May 2007.
