He is a regular contributor to several other Jane's titles and has also written widely on aviation, defense and industry topics land, sea and air in several languages. Robert has made a wide range of TV and radio appearances, both in the UK and elsewhere. He also has substantial experience of military aviation operations, flying in a wide range of service aircraft from combat helicopters to front line fast jets. In 2007 he became the last civilian to fly in a Swedish Air Force Saab Viggen. In 2009 Robert received the Royal Aeronautical Society Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for a Jane's Defence Weekly news analysis piece that queried the costs of Norway's proposed Joint Strike Fighter purchase.
