Siemens announced on 28 November that it intends to sell its Mobility and Logistics business, which includes airport baggage-handling systems (BHS).
“While the company holds leading market positions in [the material handling and logistics] business with a global presence and an installed base around the world, there are very limited synergies with other Siemens business[es] due to the high mechanical content and focus on system integration,” the company stated.
Siemens BHSs are in service at approximately 400 airports worldwide. The company oversaw baggage-handling projects at several major global hubs, including Beijing Capital International (Terminal 3), Dubai International and Incheon International. Other BHS contracts in recent years include Terminal 3 at Delhi International.
