The United States Air Force's (USAF's) 337th Test and Evaluation Squadron (TES) is completing the final phase of operational testing for the Lockheed Martin AGM-158B Joint Air-To-Surface Standoff Missile - Extended Range (JASSM-ER), a significant step toward operational employment on the B-1B Lancer.
JASSM-ER is an autonomous air-to-surface missile with more than two and a half times the range of the standard AGM-158A JASSM on which it is based. Intended for use against high-value, well-fortified, fixed and relocatable targets, it can be launched from locations outside heavily defended airspace and the coverage of long-range surface-to-air missiles.
