MIC4AD command system ready for mobile deployment

Rafael Advanced Defense Systems displayed its MIC4AD (Modular Integrated C4I Air and Missile Defence) system in its cabin-mounted form at the Eurosatory 2012 exhibition. When MIC4AD was first announced last year it was shown in the form of a row of commercial workstations, but the latest version can be mounted on a truck to allow tactical deployment.

The system is designed to correlate real-time data from distributed sensors and platforms, and fuse this into an integrated air situation picture. Following threat assessment and hostile target classification, the system will generate suitable interception plans, allocating incoming threats to the appropriate air defence system.

The air defence commander operates from a central workstation, while the individual systems available are controlled from workstations located on either side. Each position is equipped with a full suite of communications equipment.

In the version shown at Eurosatory 2012, the workstations were assigned (from right to left) to an Iron Dome anti-rocket system, a longer-ranged David's Sling, a commander, a Spyder surface-to-air missile system, and an unidentified system labelled 'other air defence system'. A separate console mounted on the wall to the operator's right displayed logistics information.
