Sweden's FMV in bid to head off latest protest over AWV selection

Sweden's defence materiel authority (FMV) is hoping to head off Mowag's protest over the award of the armoured wheeled vehicle (AWV) contract to Patria before the procurement decision is reconsidered in court.
Swiss company Mowag - a subsidiary of General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) and a bidder for the AWV contract - filed an appeal with the Stockholm County Administrative Court on 23 August against the SEK2.5 billion (USD333 million) award to its rival.
The FMV issued its response to the court three days later, and told Jane's on 2 September that it was willing to re-enter discussions with GDELS if the county court failed to reject the protest.
The FMV said GDELS had appealed against the disqualification of its Piranha III vehicle after it failed to meet three basic requirements out of around 300.
GDELS was unavailable for comment on 2 September, but told Jane's on 25 August: "GDELS offered a compliant vehicle ... we want to be certain that all of the advantages of our offering are understood."
