Poland targets UK exercise as preparation for Afghan deployment

A reinforced Polish mechanised company from the 15th 'Gizycka' Mechanised Brigade of the 16th 'Pomorska' Mechanised Division is to participate in the UK tactical training exercise 'Druids Dance 2009'.
One hundred and thirty Polish troops will remain in the UK for three months, with a follow-on contingent planned to arrive for another exercise in the third quarter of 2009 the longest deployment of Polish soldiers to the UK ever since 1945.
Currently a mechanised company, command squad, maintenance squad, medevac team and liaison team are to scheduled to train in the UK, where they will improve their skills and learn the procedures necessary to execute their future mission with the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.
