Navistar develops enhanced suspension for MaxxPro Dash

The US Marine Corps (USMC) has contracted Navistar to supply an enhanced version of its International MaxxPro Dash that includes a new independent suspension system better matched for Afghanistan's terrain and can also be retrofitted to existing Dash vehicles.
The company announced on 16 February that it had received a USD752 million contract to provide 1,050 of the re-designed trucks under the Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected (MRAP) vehicle programme by the end of August.
Some MRAP models in Afghanistan have been limited in where they can travel due to their weight and straight-axle suspensions, and at times struggle to navigate the country's mountainous terrain.
To bolster off-road capability for the Dash the smallest vehicle in the MaxxPro line Navistar integrated a DXM independent suspension system solution provided by Hendrickson Truck Suspension Systems and AxleTech International, a company statement said.
