An airport terminal in Sydney was perhaps an unlikely battleground for a fierce battle between rival criminal gangs. Yet this is what happened on 22 March, when motorcycle gang member Anthony Zervas, a Hell's Angel, was beaten to death by rival Comanchero group members at Sydney Airport.
The public nature of his death sparked media calls for greater oversight of motorcycle gangs, and encouraged the state governments of South Australia and New South Wales to enact tough new legislation, designed to crush the criminal elements within outlaw motorcycle gangs in these respective state jurisdictions.
