Boeing hands over last KC-767 tanker to Japan

Boeing delivered its fourth and final KC-767 aerial refueling tanker to Japan on 8 December, the company announced on 12 January.

Boeing's partner on the tanker programme, Itochu Corp, delivered the tanker to the Japanese Ministry of Defence after flying it to Japan on 20 December from Boeing's tanker modification facility in Wichita, Kansas.

The Japanese Air Self-Defense Force has nearly finished its operational evaluation of its KC-767 fleet, which achieved initial operational capability (IOC) in March 2009.

The tanker has an open-architecture cockpit, is configured with the advanced Boeing air refueling boom and the associated Remote Aerial Refueling Operator (RARO) II system.
