BAA posts massive loss for 2008

BAA reported static passenger traffic and plummeting profits for 2008, the UK airport operator announced on 25 February 2009.

Total passenger throughput at BAA's three major London airports - Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted - dropped slightly to 123.4 million in 2008 compared with 126.8 million in 2007. Heathrow traffic fell by 1.4 per cent, while Gatwick and Stansted posted 2.8 per cent and 6 per cent falls respectively.

When BAA's other assets (Southampton, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow) are taken into account, overall traffic dropped by 2.8 per cent to 145.8 million.
