The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) released its latest report on Iran's nuclear programme on 28 August. Much of the news coverage focused on the IAEA having detected a slowdown in Iran's uranium enrichment programme, but the agency also chastised Tehran for continuing to withhold co-operation in a number of areas.
Later reports followed about an exchange of letters between the United States and Iran and signals that Tehran had finally agreed to resume talks. Minister of Foreign Affairs Manouchehr Mottaki communicated Iran's response to the EU-US offer of talks in Tehran on 9 September.
