Inspectors blast force for 'dangerous' prison cells

By Max Blain

05 August 2009

CAMBRIDGESHIRE Constabulary has been heavily criticised by prisons and police inspectors for the 'indefensible' state of its prison cells.

However, they said senior officers had been 'knowingly' operating the cells despite the risk for 'at least a year'. They added: 'This culture and the working practices that had flowed from it were wholly indefensible.'
