From duck houses to dog food, recent revelations about MPs' expense claims have sparked anger among the public.
The allegations against politicians from all parties are deemed so serious that even the Met and the Crown Prosecution Service have been examining the evidence.
But are police officers above reproach? From 1 January, the Information Commissioner's Office has said that all police forces in England and Wales should make details of expense claims made by chief constables, deputy and assistant chiefs publicly available - either on their force websites or on request.
Police Review has found that 30 of the 43 police forces in England and Wales have so far published the information online; however a number of the entries were not up to date and many appeared incomplete.
The way forces broke the expense claims down also varied. Some logged a total figure for a number of months, while others listed all the items chief constables claimed for.
