Jankel reveals light patrol vehicle

Building on the success of its Fox (Al Thalab) family of 4 x 4 long-range patrol vehicles (LRPVs) in the Middle East, African and European markets, Jankel Armouring has evolved a new variant to meet a growing demand for a light patrol vehicle (LPV) for urban and security operations.
The company has recently implemented a modular approach in the design and development of the Toyota 79 Land Cruiser-based Fox LRPV (including storage, seating and additional weapons system options and different tracking and engine configurations), providing the user with the option to re-role the vehicle for different missions.
While the original Fox LRPV concept was for a four-person/10-day mission, discussions with existing Fox users have identified a demand for different mission applications, including a 24/48-hour mission and the ability to carry six personnel.
All future Fox LRPV vehicles, as well as those currently under production, will incorporate the new modular design, including some of the remainder of those being manufactured for the Jordan Armed Forces. (Jordan placed an original order for 56 Fox/Al-Thalab LRPVs in June 2004, with a follow-on order for an additional 40 vehicles placed at the end of 2006.)
