Sweden freezes AWV acquisition as BAE appeals against decision

By Matthew Bell

08 July 2009

The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has frozen its procurement of Patria's Armoured Modular Vehicle (AMV) 8x8 platform after BAE Systems lodged an appeal against the rejection of its Modular Armoured Tactical System (SEP), according to the UK-based group.

BAE Systems submitted a formal appeal to the Swedish County Administrative Court on 3 July, requesting that the FMV's recent decision in favour of Patria's AMV for Sweden's armoured wheeled vehicle (AWV) requirement "is either corrected or the tender process is re-run".

The group said that, in addition, it had put forward a request for an "interim decision preventing FMV from completing the procurement contract with Patria" - also on 3 July - which "has been successful".
